These oatmeal cookies are a big hit here at NorthPoleVillage.com. The reindeer especially love them!! Make sure to have a parent help you with these!!

• 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
• 1 1/2 cups sugar
• 1/4 cup water
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinammon
• 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 3 cups quick-cooking oats, uncooked
• 1 cup raisins(optional)

Cream the butter and gradually add the sugar, beating at medium speed with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the egg and beat well. Then add the water and the vanilla, mixing well.

Mix the flour, baking soda, salt, cinammon, and the nutmeg together. Then add to the creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in the oats and the raisins(if wanted).

Take rounded teaspoonfuls of dough and drop onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 3 minutes and then remove cookies to wire racks to cool completely. Makes about 8 dozen cookies.
